Just speaking about Old Order Amish here..no electricity, only drive buggies, etc. I know there are settlements in Missouri, but i am not certain exactly where they are...also, how about those of you in Ohio? When we moved here to AL, the folks all told us there were Amish in the area.....NOT...just a small family who dress like Mennonites and use a horse and wagon VS a car..I was so disappointed because I dearly miss all my PA buddies.

We have Amish neighbors galore. I live in Holmes County, OH. It is home to the largest population of Amish anywhere in the world. We have all sorts of Amish from Swartzentruber to Beachy. We also have lots of Mennonites.

There are supposed to be a small community about an hour or so away,but I'm not sure where. A couple of years ago one of the families had a couple of their horses shot on accident resulting in the death of one horse. From what I understand the surrounding non-Amish community rallied and donated money for another horse. A friend also told me of another community that she knew of because she did some dealings with a man about a horse. I'm not sure if either is Old Order.

We do, about 6 miles away. We met them when we were looking for slate about 6 years ago, became friendly and now visit them often. I also do computer work for them when they need it, and make copies for their business needs. We helped them on their house, and they came here on their buggy, but it took them several hours. It is a very enjoyable friendship to us!

We do-Old order, and a order that drives cars, and several mennonite communities. Often I see thier buggies hitched at Lowes or Wal-Mart. Yesterday, I passed an Amish women coming out of the chiropractors as I was going in. There is a family that runs a nursery-greenhouse, and several who are carpenters.

I live in northern Indiana and there is a large population of old order Amish, along with mennonites starting about 10 miles from here. My brother lived in southwestern WI and there were quite a few there too, many of them coming from here in Indiana. I also met some transplanted Indiana Amish near Mansfield Missouri when I visited there in spring of 2000.

Hi, I just got on this web page thanks to son Rich. We live about 10 miles from an Amish settlement in Middlefield Oh. Also have done and are still doing business with these nice people for over 40 years. We find them to be good people with steadfast belifes. Maybe we should try a slower pace once in a while. We might have less unrest in the world. BJ

We live only about 1 mile from several Old Order Mennonites. They still have horse & buggys and live without electricity.

One of them runs a very nice bulk food store. It is nice to have it so close. They are very friendly folks.

I also delivered my last 3 babies with an Amish midwife who lives around 20 miles from where I live now. I used to live closer to her, only 4 miles, but, we moved 8 years ago, and, now she is further away. Of course, I have to get one of our good friends to be the runner and go and get her when it is time. She is truly the best!!!

Several of the Old Order Mennonites have greenhouses with very reasonable prices. Some also sell produce during the growing season, which, makes it nice, but, I grow just about of of our own produce.

My experiences with the Amish & Mennonites have been very good. They are nice friendly folks.

I live in south-eastern Indiana and there are alot of old order amish here. I see them alot. They have always been friendly. I think they are really neat people.

I miss them dearly! We lived in NY between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes and the Amish Farms were everywhere...I got my milk from them, bought some property from them, (one woman taught me how to make butter by shaking fresh milk...how simple...why didn't I know that? I was wonderfully excited when it turned to butter!!!) I did "hauling" occationally...That's what they call it when you give them a ride to the dentist...or WalMart.

I was very inspired by them, and the ones I knew had a child-like sweetness about them. If it weren't so cold in the north, we would have stayed. Not many Amish folks in Key West!
