Looking for ideas on using rabbit pelts

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

I'm in the process of tanning several rabbit pelts for the first time. I'm hoping that they will turn out okay! If not.... well, I'll try again. Now does anyone have any ideas on what to do with, or make from the pelts once they're done?

Cheryl-----I have a crafter who buys all the old fur coats /I can buy -- & she makes the cutest teddy bears out of the fur---she makes her own patterns & makes all sizes & sells them at craft fairs & at consignment shops----does really well----some she has made out of rabbit are just toooooo cute!!!! She also makes some with fabric & uses the fur for trim----just darling---she says she makes more on the ones she uses fabric & uses fur for trim--- She also buys any old winter coats I have as she uses them for the fabric for the bears---- I use to buy out households & always had lots of cloths that came in the households----I always saved those for her--as she did such great things with them--- just an idea!

I sew rabbit pelts into adorable handbags. Add a nice piece of suede for the strap. You can use conchos, beads, etc to decorate them with.
