I am located in mid state NC- near Rocky Mount. I have an offer to anyone local who has a portable sawmill... I have been asked to clear over 9 acres of mature forest. I am in the first acre now and will have harvested over 100 cords of wood or more before this acre is done- for firewood. The wood on the property is mostly oak, poplar and the occasional hickory and sweet gum, the poplar being the most probabal bid for lumber, though oak is also a prime canidate. Some of the trees have trunks measuring up to 5 feet in diameter, but many are smaller- in the 40 to 60 year range. I would gladly work with some one with a sawmill that would be willing to set up and saw, I have means to transport wood, and would like some lumber in exchange for my help. I can fell the trees and help with moving the lumber around, etc. Just thought Id mention this, never hurts to ask.
