Dr. Naylor's Mastitis Test?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

Hi everyone!

Those Dr. Naylor's mastitis test cards in the little yellow box, are they of any help at all in detecting mastitis, or just a waste of money? Thanks.

By the time the milk would color the circle from bacteria, you have really bad problems that you eaisly could have seen. CMT (California Mastitis Tests) do work, but you also can get a slight gell on the test even in a clean doe, especially when they are first fresh. I really think taste, and especially fresh warm from the doe is the easiest way to keep up on udder health, gross my daughters out with this one! Vicki
