Lipton Onion Soup Mix

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

Thought I'd share this recipe for people who use dry onion soup mix a lot.

Onion Soup Mix

4 tsp. beef bouillon

8 tsp. dry minced onion

1 tsp. onion powder

1/4 tsp. seasoned salt

Mix well and store in airtight jar. This mix is really good and replaces the store bought Lipton brand. Happy cooking!

How much do you use to equal a "packet" of the store-bought - family size? This is great!

Christine, one recipe is equal to one packet of store bought Lipton. Hope you try it! Happy cooking!

Hi Cowgirlone! Thanks for this recipe. I have always been going to try to figure it out, but never did. That soup mix is expensive in the store. Thanks again!

so,, if you make this in bulk,, 6-7 table spoons is a "packet" ?

Stan, I should have mentioned that when you make extra, keep each batch separate in a baggie and store the baggies in a jar. When you make several batches in one bowl, it's real hard to divide into individual packet sized servings. The dried onions float to the top and the spices sink to the bottom of the bowl! Just like when you open a packet of Lipton onion soup mix, all the dried onions are always on top. Hope this helps! Best of luck!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I use Lipton soup quite a bit for our favorite casseroles & veggie dishes. This will save me some money.

Just a note to let you know I made this the other day to add to sour cream for dip. It really does taste just like the store brand!!
