What is your favorite yarn website?

What is your favorite website for yarn? I like Lion but just found a site with really great name brand yarn at great prices at Smileys Yarn.

I am also looking for natural wool (with the lanolin still in it) for socks. If anyone knows a source where it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, please list it also.

Karen, my best yarn buys have been at thrift stores. I prefer wool and/or natural fibers. Recently at Salvation Army I bought eight skeins of 100% wool for eight dollars. I've also read that some folks buy wool sweaters at the thrift store, unravel them and knit socks! I haven't had to buy yarn at full price in years. Hope this helps! Terran

Check out sheepyvalley.com. My friend Kate Henderson sells 100% wool yarn from her sheep on this site. Pretty colors and good prices!

It's not cheap but it's the most incredibly beautiful yarn to knit with - truly a treat - the Green Mountain Spinnery has a great product and a great philosophy. I encourage anyone to check them out at www.spinnery.com - they also have a beautiful inspiring book of patterns that turned me on to their spinnery and website. You need to call or fax in your order.
