I came across this site in my local newspaper. My first thought was that it must be OG's site :)

There are some lovely handcrafted items here.

Are you surviving the weather okay, Beck?

Are you kidding? Yeah, well, the geezers and gits have nothing to do all day but crochet and macrame. NOT!!! Just bought a gallon of paint and some wallpaper to do the living room and a bathroom. Soon as the weather changes and I can bend my knees and elbows, I'll be getting stuck in. In the meantime, today I was paying bills and doing end-of-year stuff until I could taste metal. That MIGHT get finished this weekend. I've also been pruning roses, butterfly bushes and hibiscus.

These old geezers must live in apartments or something. Or have a husband who's willing to do the plumbing repairs, lol!

Hi meemur, We got 8-9" of the white stuff with a little rain mix at the end - just enough to make crusty snow on the ground. We did have a cow decide to calve in during the storm and we lost the calf - didn't see it soon enough. Otherwise, the woodstove is going and we are doing fine.

There is supposed to be more snow at the beginning of the week I think.

Thanks for asking :)

Oh dear, sorry about the calf, Beckie. Saw the Weather Channel earlier, thought I heard them say there was more bad weather to come this weekend.

Britain has been getting terrible weather. Talked to Dad around Wednesday and also today--he hasn't been able to get a good night's sleep for the high winds--all that howling, rattling and banging. His fence has been blown down but no other damage so far. They've had 70-80 mph winds just about all over the country. Said 50' waves are to be expected on the west coast today. Seems there's a low pressure way north of Scotland, maybe up in the Antarctic, wasn't paying that much attention, and the winds are bashing the UK. It's like a winter hurricane. Can't call it a nor'easter, more like a nor'wester!

We had 80 degrees yesterday but a front came through and it's a little bit cooler today. Even so, fruit trees are in bloom and I saw some flowering quince yesterday. Weird!

OG, a couple of days ago, I was walking on a trail through a park, and saw some fresh new plants. The leaf was familiar, broad with several deep indentations at the end, though I have forgotten what that plant is. As I recall, when I had my mountain resort cabin, the first plant to make its appearance in very early spring was Jack in the Pulpit.

Good thing it wasn't poison ivy! Yes, my bulbs are well up, have been on their way since about mid-December. I haven't looked closely at other spring plants, must trek around the back yard. Unfortunately, I expect we shall have a couple more frosts and those flowers will get burned. I intend to use my collection of old mattress covers, bedspreads and tarps to protect whatever pops up unexpectedly.
