I've mentioned before that we are considering a move to WV - We're thinking of planning some road trips for April & May - Does anyone know of anything happening (ie festivals, etc.) during that time - around the Elkins area or within a couple hours driving distance of Elkins?? THANKS SO MUCH

Most of the main festivals happen later in the year but here's a few sites to look around to see if you find something interesting: callwva.com wvonline.com A great area to visit(and one of my favorite places) is the Seneca Rocks area-absolutely beautiful scenery.

Blackwater falls is my favorite area. I live about an hour from Elkins it is sooo beautiful here. Moved here in July. Well anyway at the end of May in Buckhannon is the Strawberry Festival very big here, the parade is forever and it is really nice. I also think there is a maple syrup festival in Helvia (sp) or maybe it is pancake festival, there is a festival for everything here. Even if there nothing going it is just a pretty place to come to. Where are you thinking on settleing? Enjoy your visit

The International Ramp Festival is held in Elkins towards the end of April. Call (304) 636-2717 for the date. As was mentioned the Strawberry Festival is held in Buckhannon which is about a half hour from Elkins. Call (304) 472-9036. Last year it was May 17-21.

The Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins can be reached at (304) 637-1209. They'll probably have the Spring Dulcimer Week in April. Another possibility is the Webster County Woodchopping Festival which is held on Memorial Day in Webster Springs. That's a bit longer than an hour from Elkins.

The 1st weekend in May is the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in West Friendship,Maryland.Wish I was going this year. It is a wonderful event-good food, time and people.Lots of fiber animals and crafts. Terry
