Aspen Wood Stove Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am thinking of buying a Vermont Castings Aspen Wood Stove. Anyone have experience with this model? I love the way it looks and my home will be very small. I see I could cook on it too. What do you think?

We have a Vermont castings Intrepid model, not a very big stove but it does a good job in the rooms we use most. This model has a top loading feature that makes it handy for loading,if we burn it full out it will eat wood. The only draw back with a small stove is the burn time.Ours will only last 5 hrs. tops at the lowest air setting.

I have that very stove in our 1900 sq' earth burmed house, and it heats good, the upstairs stays cool but I like it that way, one thing with Vermont Castings you dont get the right now!!! heat you would with a steel stove, but it holds the fire over night real well, we also have an Opal cookstove when we need to heat a cold house. I think there a good stove you will like it.
