The Concord Monitor's undeveloped sense of consequence

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

If you haven't already heard about it, this newspaper published yesterday morning a cartoon which showed twin towers, ala WTC, one labeled "Social" the other "Security," and a plane labeled "Bush Budget" headed at them with Bush at the controls. By noon yesterday, the cartoon had made it to the Net and all hell broke loose. Last night the editor released an editorial, due in tomorrow's edition, which admitted he was wrong to approve the cartoon. He had three reasons: one, he thought enough time had passed; two, damn, I forget two; and three; he didn't realize it would get on the Net (even though it was copyrighted!!!).

What a load of crap!

If you want to find out more, there are several threads at Lucianne.com. You'll have to search on keywords like White House (for the WH reaction) and "Bush Budget" (for the last thread on the subject). There's an e-mail address or two for complaints in those threads.

If I were the owner of that paper, there would be some changes made, let me tell you.
