Supper is sneaking up

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Being a batchlor eremite curmudgeon I dis like messing up the kitchen, so I try to cook in a one skillet mannor, I hate doing dishes and do not have a dog!! But am becoming uninspired, my last experiment included diced chicken, yellow rice, pineapple chunks and fruit cocktale with orange juice at a slow simmer; I nixed the beets and anchovies. Maybe you see the problem; whats your favorite one skillet recipe?

Not a bachelor; maybe a curmudgeon but I do have one-dish, low-mess favorites: 1. sausage and potatoes; 2. scrambled eggs and almost anything in the refrig (cheese, veggies, salsa, bits of meat); 3. chicken, rice and some kind of soup; 4. hamburger, rice or macaroni or corn, broth or tomato juice and cheese; 5. noodles, broth or water and almost anything else available.

5. spicy tomato soup (canned soup with a jar of salsa)

6. Vegetable soup

9. Fried potatoes with peppers, onions, ham, or bacon

10. pork chops, kraut and potatoes

"It" turned out to be two chicken thighes, wraped in foil with a smear of margine, sprinkled with lemon pepper, poultry spice, black pepper and drenched with Asian sweet and sour sauce with liquid hickory flavorings. The veggies were frozen stir fry and brussel sprouts toped with margarine. I am fat and happy - for now.

One our family likes is Cabbage Stuff. I don't know what else to call it. You can find my recipe for it under the "C" section of Melissa's alphabetical recipe series.
