Which is generally considered the best enlarging lens between a Rodagon APO f4 80mm and the Rodagon APO N f2.8 80mm.?

I apologize for taking anyone's time with the above question. As It turned out, the Rodenstock Apo f2.8 80mm that was being offered to me was in fact a 50mm lens. Bad eyesight?

Arden;Using the word "best" is always dodgey at best.
All else being equal, an 80mm lens will tend to give more even illumination across the frame for 35mm negs, as a 105 will do the same for 6x6. You are working closer to the edge of the coverage circle with a shorter FL lens. You will not get the same enlargement on the base, but TANSTAAFL.
Optically they are about the same stopped down a notch:excellent.
Cheers

The Apo-Rodagon-N is the current model; the plain Apo-Rodagon is discontinued. Bob Salomon of HP Marketing says that the "N" is better. I am not sure of the differences, I think that the "N" is multicoated but that the non-N is not.
