Looking for someone in OGDEN, Utah

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

In the winter of 1998 I met a couple in Phoenix- their names were Courtney and Marty. They were supposed to be moving to Ogden, Utah, so Courtney could go to school there (college). A girl named Keesha may have accompanied them, she is big on Apaloosa horses. I moved back to NC shortly before their move. I, on my way home, lost my wallet. It contained the phone number and adress of this couple, with whom I had become friends. I have been thinking of ways to contact them, and am asking for help here, I know the chances are 1 in several million that someone knows them, but what the hay. And no, I don't remember their last names. Courtney is maybe 5'5". She has a horse- a brown fullblood- named Dolly. She likes Ford trucks of the late 70s era. She has brown hair. Shes quite into horses and is a good jumper and might be working in a stable or the like. She is from upstate NY originally, and her father is a judge. She might own a white 77 long bed extended cab 1 ton ( ok, maybe 3/4) Ford truck with a odd spare tire option on the passenger side. She went to school and studied auto mechanics and is good at it. She had, at least in 98, hip length strait hair. She owns a horse trailer. Her 77 black ford F 150 long bed was stolen in Phoenix, and theres a slim chance it was recovered. It has no side chrome mid body, has a slight bend on the RR of the step bumper, has a single piece rear glass. I remember it so well because we were looking for it intently while in Phoenix. She also owned an orange male cat. Marty is tall, maybe 6 foot. He has curly hair which is sandy brown- shoulder length. He might have a full beard?? He, at least in 98, drove a red caddilac of mid to late 80s vintage. He owns a very tall horse named Cinder that is black with a white nose splotch. His family is also, I believe, from upstate NY, but moved to Phoenix pre 98. They may also have a paint pony named Twister with them. Please email if they sound familiar!

You may have better luck trying to find Osama Bin Laden.

My recommendation: Use the AOL Research & Learn function for Yellow Pages for Ogden, UT. A search under Stables itself only located three. Expanding it to 25 miles produced 10. I didn't try riding clubs, but there are likely some there as well, as well as outfitters and breeders. Write to them to see if your information rings a bell with anyone.

I use to go out to Odgen about once a year on business trips. Don't remember a university there, unless it was a branch. As far as I know the closest one would be Brigham Young University.

Do you know what religion they are? You might try churches they might attend.

I beleive there is a branch of the University of Utah in Ogden. I use to live near that area. The problem is there are so many open areas for riding one need not join a club for riding, although she may for the socialization.

Call the chamber of commerice of Ogden Utah and ask for the phone # of any horse clubs in the area. Call the clubs and give discription like you did here and ask them to pass it on to the people of the club with your phone #. You might have a better chance getting this info out to the people they run with. Even if they have moved on somone might know where they went. Hope this helps.

The college in Ogden is Weber State University, pronounced "Weeeber". Good luck!

You might also try finding bulletin boards on sites specific to Appaloosa horses or look in the Yahoo eLists for one of the larger eLists relating to Appaloosas. If she is still showing regularly and is in the western region you might find someone who knows her or can suggest places to post.

I'm actually from Ogden, and have family there. You could place an ad in the local newspaper, the Standard at www.standard.net/ in the classified section, and maybe someone there might recognize them and get in touch with them for you. Good luck. Jan

um, ok, a few more things I thought of: The girl who was into Apaloosas name is Keesha, though I am not really looking for her, she might still be with the couple. Keesha was driving a baby blue 62 Valiant in 98. She didnt own an apaloosa, just liked them a bunch. Also, Courtney and Marty were scheduled to work on a ranch in Ogden in trade for board or something. I really appreciate the replies, and will try to place an ad in the paper- thats probabally one of the best ideas, though it will have to be carefully worded due to limited space in a standard ad space. The university is worth considering too, and I hadnt even thought of trying the stables in the area. And all of this is hindged on IF they are still in ogden, they could be back in phoenix or even NY for all I know. (needle in a hay stack, but I have a feeling something is going to work here.) Thanks!
