What, as in: "We'll never get 12mil for him, we'll settle for 8"?

Only £8 million for an established England International centre forward? Bargain....

Is he really only average, or is it just cos he's a makem ?

I'd take him on loan for a couple of months, even if just to see hpw he fares in a better placed side.

I would hardly call 8 games and 0 goals established would you? Oh, but you just did. The nearest Phillips is going to get to korea is his local takeaway.

8 games ,0 goals. What the f**k are you on about?

How many minutes has he been on the field? How long before Andy Cole got his 1st goal?

How long did Shearah go pre -euro 96 without a goal?

How many times does Heskey lsoe the ball and/or fall on his arse?

I really ,REALLY hope that this comes back to haunt you next week.

Geordies market themselves as being fairminded.Sadly the posting(s) above have put that to bed.

Steady on there kev, you're gonna blow a gasket!. I was only making a remark that FGB said phillips was an established international. Nothing more. I wouldn't even call cole established and he's played more times than phillips, heskey is bordlerline. For the record I think phillips is a fine player, much better than ricketts.

Er, Kev, they are talking about his England form, not his club form. Phillips always scores against us. We'll just have to live with it.

PS. Hopefully SuperKev's statement that you lot should beat us easily before the last derby will come back to haunt him. Probably won't as it has all the makings of a game that sees Reid get a year's reprieve.

What was unfairminded in expressing what's probably true SK ? I didn't say we were better, only better placed.

And, it wouldn't surprise me if he went somewhere else and did a Bellamy. Pitch-wise, that is, not Quayside-wise. Would you really be surprised, if it does turn out to be true though ?

Maybe M'boma, Morrison and these S.Americans Reidy's spying on, might win a last minute reprieve.

How would SK do a Bellamy?

I thought he was Sunderland's ONLY good player according to most of their fans. I don't think Coventry had that opinion of Bellamy when he was at Highfield Road.

£12m isn't, but we don't need him.

SK, Shearer, if you remember, was played alone up front by Terry the Tosser for months. I also remember SK going through a barren patch at Sunderland when he had no strike partner.

8 appearances is true though, regardless of the number of minutes. It's not as if he's been getting 3 minute sub appearances, they have been proper spells. Remember Malta away? Couldn't even find the net against the part timers. You could understand the regulars not wanting to risk injury etc, but SK had everyhthing to play for and failed miserably.

To me, it seems as if he is an excellent club player, but can't cut it for England. If he is picked for the WC and plays a blinder I will happily eat my words though :)

I'll overlook the nit picking Paul, how each was/is seen by the respective set of supporters was irrelevant to the point I tried to make which was that Bellamy was doing very little at Cov, came to us and has never looked back. Phillips is not having much luck with the makems, maybe a move will have a similar effect on him.

From that point of view, yeah, I agree.

I thought you meant from the point of view of the supporters, as Bellamy at Coventry and Phillips at Sunderland couldn't be different in terms of fans.

That should read "couldn't be more different"
