making Perfume, Sonda what do you think?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

In the book Natural Beauty at Home by Janice Cox, there's actually recipes for perfume and lotions etc. that I might not be allergic too. Have any of you tried making natural perfumes or lotions? Does orris root have a scent? I make my own soap and lip balm and laundry detergent. I can't use essential oils.

Sonda, you know well my problem, what do you think? Most of the ingredients are stuff like vodka(I'm only allergic to it if I drink it- would give me a heart attack- castor oil, dried herbs and flower, cornstarch, beeswax etc. You're also a cosmetics expert, have you tried making your own?

I use essential oils all the time. For instance, 5W-30 oil is essential for my 350 V-8, Dextron III is essential for its transmission, DOT 3 is essential for brakes and 80W-90 is an essential oil for the differential. Yeah, I know you're talkin' perfume. The essential oil I use for cologne is WD-40, my sweetheart loves that fragrance! Personally, I prefer the fragrnace of Hoppes #9. If you don't know what that is, ask Stan. --Happy trails, Cabin Fever

Are you SURE your sweetheart loves the scent of WD40?!?!? hmmmm....I'd check with her again! ;)

Hi Cindy-----been busy the past few days getting the last edition of the paper out----sorry it has taken me soo long to answer.

Hon--- I haven't made my own perfume or lotions---as I'm also very allergic to most any scent-even natural!! I don't even care to wear anything with a scent of any kind. I'm just so allergic--- I don't like any scent any more---unless it is like bread bakeing--ha

--or something---no natural scents--even the honeysuckle out side our bedroom window in the summer plugs me up----& makes me so I can't breath!

I have used natural goat's milk soap & it was made with no added scent---I have used some natural lotions made with natural things that others have made---but have not tried any on my own---as I know - I would probably run into trouble---

I would love to find some natural as possible /scent free-as possible- --very mild soap! That someone makes----as reasonably priced as possible---

Did I get side tracked as usual---or did I answer your question???? later sonda
