Welcome Everyone!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

Welcome everyone! I may have jumped the gun a little, but it didn't appear that anyone else was doing much about Countryside Forum shuting down. Not much time for talking (the last day of February will be here sooner than you might think) so I decided to set up a place for everyone to gather and continue the great "family" that makes up the Countryside Forum if you so desire. I know I'm not nearly as knowledgable as many of you are, and I may not be able to give the advice many need, but I had to do something - here it is! I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or go over anyone's head! Just doing my part to keep a great source of information, friends and family alive! If nobody ever posts here, that's okay! If something more appealing comes along and everyone goes there, that's okay! If everyone comes here and posts and carries on as usual, that's even better than okay! It's here for whoever! And no matter what happens, I'll know I've done my part!

One more thing of interest and I will get this posted and listed as a public forum ... on the last day of February I will be doing a COMPLETE backup of the Countryside forum (right up to the last minute if possible) and saving it to disk. Anyone wanting a copy on a CD can email me and I'll get it to you. For now that's about it - I sure hope to hear a lot about this new adventure I've just set out on!

May your day be filled with much laughter and sunshine!

This is nice Phil, but I can assure you that there are people working on keeping CS, just as it is. (well, different name but hey can't have it all can we)

Good idea Phil,I'll put this in my favorites list. Daryll

Thanks Phil! By the way where in KS are you? I'm in the SE part of KS, Coffeyville to be exact.

-- Pam (psanford@terraworld.net), February 18, 2002.

Thanks. I appreciate someone recognizing the importance of having this type of advice forum. If both continue--well I'll just be at both! The more the merrier!

You HAVE added sunshine to my day.

Howdy Phil and Cheryl, thanks for the email. Wherever we end up, who cares, as long as we are still together! I have only been around for a few months soaking it all in, (man! have I learned A LOT!) and responding very little, but there will come a day when I have more to share (like now, my gratitude) or things to ask about and I will be glad you guys are still here. Good luck in your endeavor!

I must have done something wrong--I wanted to say thank you for starting this and put it under the "Welcome" and it went to the Old Categories! Anyway--thanks to everyone who will keep it up and running!

Hi Phil, thanks for the heads up on this new forum. It's nice to see ya thinking ahead if we need a backup forum. I'm hoping the changeover goes smoothly over at CS, but ya never know. Depends alot on the administrator. We homesteaders have a little tendancy to be somewhat "hotheaded" at times and I'm hoping they can pick the right person over there to make a smooth transition. Thanks again!

Hi there Phil! Thanks for the headsup on this new forum. It looks like they're trying to work things through over at CS, but alot will depend on who they pick for a new administrator. Ya know, us homesteaders can be a pretty hardheaded bunch! Thanks for all your efforts to keep us together.

Hey Phil, didn't mean to sound snarky............this morning I was feeling very positive about the future of CS. The new postings make me wonder. Like how long before we would move to "pay for view". At least if we all keep our foot in the door here, we will know where each other are......:>)

Thanks everyone! Feels just like family :-)! No matter what happens at CS, I will keep this up and running. Of course, if Lusenet goes down, this will too, but it's here just the same. And I'm working on a website (it's there just barely) that will be made up of the folks who contribute here, among others. Thinking about keeping some of the posts of the week listed over there, too. Any input would be appreciated. I'm working as fast as my stuby fingers allow - keep checking back!

May the sun shine just where it needs to in your lives today!

Well done, Phil! Whichever way this goes, you can't have too much country lore.

Thank you for letting me know. I can see that it is important to everyone here to stay in touch no matter what. :-)

Thanks for letting me know about this new forum. Now my time will be split between this forum and CS. Can't have to much of a good thing (at least not in this case).
