Ground Connections

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

The Digitrax manual talks about grounding the ground connections to an earth ground. In my garage layout, there is nothing I can use as a ground connection. Can I use the ground connection from my 110v outlet, or can I drill a hole into my concrete and then insert a metal bar or something?

Using the ground pin on an AC outlet is ok...as long as you are sure that it really is ground.

A reasonable investment is an outlet checker. You can usually find them at RV stores. Plug it in and some LEDs will come on telling you if your outlet is properly wired or not. These things can save you from some ....shocking...surprises.

BTW, your layout _IS_ plugged into a GFI outlet, isn't it? If not, it should be.
