Man accused of breaking and eating

Spokane County sheriff's deputies didn't have to look far for a man who allegedly broke into a home and emptied a bowl of cookies.

Deputies Chad Speziale and John Cook responded to a burglar alarm Friday night at a home in the 4200 block of North Indian Bluff Road, and found a front window had been broken. They entered the house after announcing their presence several times, and found David A. Shepler sleeping on the living room couch, the sheriff's office said.

Shepler had polished off a bowl of cookies, used the microwave, and thumbed through the family photo album before dozing off, deputies said.

The snoozing suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of residential burglary.

Cook and Speziale later discovered that a truck they spotted in a ditch on their way to the burglarized house belonged to Shepler.

Wow!

That sounds like several of my former boyfriends. Before I moved to Central Ohio, it wasn't at all uncommon for me to come home and find my snacks gone and said man asleep on the couch, usually snoring!

I wonder what that guy in Spokane was thinking? Did he get the wrong house??

about 20 years ago i knew this guy who had spent some time on the 8th floor (psych ward) of the local hospital

a few months after he was released, his birthday rolled around and he had no way to bake himself a cake

so naturally (heh), he broke INTO the 8th floor, and used their small kitchen

he came very close to being admitted again ; )

to this day, when referring to him, we call him "break and bake"

heh
