Could someone give me information about where to buy "plain and modest clothing" ? Catalogues, web sites, stores anything. Thanks!

Guess it depends on what you mean by "plain and modest clothing" If your refering to "amish wear" then making your own is the solution. If your trying to downplay the commericalism aspect of clothing then Dont buy any clothing that has logo's, images or emblems showing on them. I have done this for many years.

I have seen places that sell plain clothing. Have you run a check on google or any other search sites? I also notice that places like JC Penney's carry uniform like clothing for kids, like plain polo shirts and plain blue slacks.

There are usually a couple of ads in the back of Countryside mag. I got a catalog once, think it came from NY. Also in the Good Life Journal from time to time.

I just ordered two jumpers with matching bloomers for my 6 and 8 year old daughters for Christmas from Lilies of the Field. The fabric and workmanship was outstanding. They are not cheap, but now I am inspired and just today cut out two denium jumpers for them. I love and they love the bloomers. No more mother saying "Girls, put your dresses down!" LOL They have lots of fabric to choose from and will do custom changes ie.length etc.

Oh Marie, you brought back some memories when you wrote about girls and bloomers! It seemed to me that my mother, my aunts and sometimes the menfolk were always telling someone to put their dress down. In my child mind, I always wondered why boys got to wear pants and not have to worry about showing their underwear! It just wasn't fair! LOL!

I am a rather tall women and like to wear modest length dresses and skirts. I find something I really like and wouldn't you know there is a long slit up one or both sides. I ahve bought some and just sew up the long slit do at least below the knee. It is a problem to dress modestly but it can be done.
