What Craft Would You Like To More About or Learn

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

What type of crafts would you like to learn or to learn more about. What would you like to see demonstrated or just can't get the hang of, but would like to? I will be putting on a series of differant craft how-to's and would like to start out with those that get the response here.

I third tatting. I taught myself to crochet, but just can't seem to get the hang of tatting.

Net weaving is a handy skill when you need a hammock or cast net and I am familiar with how to do this; to explain this takes pictures, written words with how to tie knots is beyond me.

Maybe we could compile a list of "volunteer experts" They would be willing to spend some time teaching or advising a certain craft. I can usually figure out the basics of a new craft but would often like advice on some of the finer points and easy tricks.

I want to learn lace making. Real, old fashioned lace, the kind you weave on a pillow with bobbins and pins stuck in the pillow. Wouldn't mind learning about pottery either.

OI know how to spin on a wheel-I would NOT want to try a drop spindle, seems like it would be so slow, but maybe I am mistaken. :)

I had to laugh, Karen, I took a crocheting class and the first thing the teacher asked us to do was make a slip knot. Now, I know I had heard of such a thing, but had no clue as to how to make one. The class paused as I learned how to make slip knots. Next, was a new procedure called casting over. While the class moved on to new material, I spent the rest of the time learning and relearning casting over. So maybe there are others that could benefit from a class on "How to make slipknots and cast over". I'd sign up but as you already know I have graduated from that class and am on my way to Intermediate Crocheting. Ha! Ha! Have Fun!

Oh, yes, I would like to learn pottery, too. I would be happy to help with spinning, knitting or crocheting.
