friday joy - the M6 TTL arrived!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
OK, this will not improve anyone's photograpy or enhance their understanding of Leica as a photographic tool, but I just cannot be quit.My M6 TTL arrived today. The seller indicated that it was a silver/black model that some may recall I was wishy/washy about, however, today it arrives - and it is in all black! Bingo! A NIB M6TTL w/ 3 yrs warranty, all papers etc - at a great price!
Just loaded a roll of T-Max, I'm out of there!
Cheers,
patrick

Why didn't you wait to see the M7; not that you made a mistake?

I go the 0.72 vf - don't don't plan to do tele and I don't use/need glasses. I'm starting off w/ a new 35/2 asph, planning to add a portrait soon (when I've taken the time to learn to shoot fully manual again, zone system etc.) I was thinking of a M7, but I'm happy to do it all manual for now as well as leting any potential bugs be ironed out in the M7 (I work in the software business so I know all about buggy releases). And I couldn't resist it at the price I got! /ps

At what price did you get the M6? Is it used or brand new? Who's the seller?

Excellent! I recently bought an M6 TTL, could have waited for the M7, but liked the M just the way it is now. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by your first roll of film, I know I was- well exposed and focused photos! Have fun this weekend with it, and post some results.

Welcome here, Patrick.Have fun with your LEICA and shoot a lot to get to know your camera. And: do not buy too much additional gear too fast. Just try not go the Alfie-way.
Best wishes

Welcome to the club. You will enjoy the camera.I got an almost identical kit in December. I find the M6 TTL to be a great tool, extremely well made and I like being able to control how I capture the images on film. With all the rumors flying around about a tweak to the M6 (a.k.a M7) I still went for the M6 - it met my specs perfectly and I know how easy it is to get sucked into "feature-creep"
BTW I scan processed film (color slides, col,or print and B&W) using a Minolta Dimage Mult-Pro (I have other format film to archive as well) and have been very pleasantly surprised at the sharpness of the focus and how well my M6/35mm Summilux combo does in low light conditions.
Happy shooting!

Pat,Just another "Welcome to the Club". However, your purchase begs a question, which will become ever more important as the years go by and the lust for more lens and bodies envelopes you.
Have you told your wife?
Best,
Jerry

thans guys! yes, i've told my wife - and she did try the camera - found it hard to focus, but I'm sure she'll learn.FYI, I'll stick w/ my 35/2 asph for now until I've got the hang of this baby.
cheers,
