A tentitive hello

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hello everyone. I haven't been to this forum in ages. Someone told me it might be permissible to post on here again so I'll try it and see(not because of anything I did wrong I assure you). To reintroduce myself, my name is Amanda. I have a small farm in Missouri and another in Texas. I homeschool my children Sara 10 and Grant 13(for nearly 6 years now). I help lots of folks get started with milk cows. I make all kinds of butter, cheese(ask for recipes if you need some), bread, and well nearly everything I make is from scratch. I've recently taken up spinning, and I've been sewing just about since I could walk. I grew up on a cattle ranch and used to break/train horses and cows. I'm also an ameateur beekeeper(if the mites will quit killing my hives that is :o). I've built one house and have another in progress(ah a woman and her chainsaw). I've been in contact with several of the folks on this forum because of previous threads. Usually something to do with milk cows. I enjoy helping folks get started at homesteading. I sincerely hope that this forum has turned over a new leaf. I really enjoyed posting when I first came on here.

Hi Rebecah! Yes it is me :o). The old remodeler herself. I've finally gotten to the point where I am building instead of tearing down. Spring has sprung.....absolutely everything around here is giving birth(except yours truely :o)! 8puppies, 2 calves and twin goats from a nanny that hasn't been around a buck! I'm beginning to feel like a milkmaid...everywhere I go I have a bottle in my hand..lol.

Hi Amanda, I'm fairly new here so I am meeting you for the first time. Where in Missouri is your farm? I have a hankering for some raw cow's milk but I don't know who might sell me some. I would love to milk a cow again too. I can't have one of my own; there's only hubby & me and we work weird hours. You sound so knowledgeable; hope you are back to stay!

Hello Amanda, I am thrilled to see you post! Am glad to hear you are doing well. Take care and God Bless!

Hi everyone :o). Debbie are you sure we haven't met? Your name seems familiar. My place is just south of Mountain View. Unfortunately my cow is in Texas(and so am I at the moment). You aren't alone....lots of folks like fresh milk. I can sell all the milk, cream, buttermilk, cheese or butter than I can get my hands on if I wanted to. Almost the first thing people say when I mention that I have a family cow is..."you don't happen to sell any of that stuff do you?" I do sincerely hope that I will be staying this time.

Oh Amanda, You sound like just the person I will be needing in a few months! I just got my cow yesterday. She isn't supposed to be due for 6 or 8 weeks. I know how to milk (praticed on the goat last year). Hope to make cheese and such but I am nervous. Only got the chance twice with the goat milk but it did not turn out... Stay close I know i'll be screamin!
