Words to Reflect Upon...

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it gives light to all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Matthew Chapter 5, Verses 14-16

When people see you, is your light shining? Do they see your good works, which reflect upon your Father. Or do they see someone who is crabby, mean, in a rush and not very kind or patient? I once read you never get a second chance to make a first impression!! And who knows who you will meet at any time? Maybe someone who is searching for answers in this old world.

Someone I know well once told me of a day when everything went wrong. Now this person has been a church-goer for years, but struggles with impatience and a sharp tongue. Imagine her DISMAY when she found that a new person sitting close to her in church was a clerk who she had treated rather unkindly in a store that past week. My, she was embarassed and felt badly about what she had done. Since then she had made an effort to be kind any time she is in public!! But even is she hadn't encountered this woman she still knew she had been wrong! There is one who knows our every thought and action and we should seek to do his will out of LOVE. Because he first loved us!!!
