How to help friend promote selling of his place

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hi All - My friend Don has posted the 1st paragraph of this before, but not the rest about the taxes and such. He doesn't type so fast, etc. We finally got all this info together, and I've put 3 photos of it into webshots with the webshots.com address on the bottom of this letter.

We would be interested for any thoughts of where would be a good place on the internet to post this for those that would be interested in talking with Don - for their mutual benefit.

I get nothing out of this except a warm feeling of helping someone(s). Feel free to e-mail me if Don takes a day or two to get back to you and I'll see what I can do to help out.

Hope someone fine gets this as I cannot leave Alabama and this job yet.

The info is below:

Hello,

I have for sale a 30 acre farm in East Tennessee, Hancock, County. It is 5 miles from Sneedville, about 20 miles from Morristown and about 80 miles northeast of Knoxville in the small community of Treadway.

The house is 24x44 and has a full basement with a 12x44 covered porch. It is 5 years old with a spectaculer view of the mountains from the porch. It has floor trusses,so there are no support post in the basement. The basement is partially finished and heated, both the house and basement have thermostst controlled propane heaters. Currently there are 2 bedrooms, but with with a full basement you could have what ever you needed. The house has a water well and submersible pump, but there also is a year round stream on the property. The taxes are $250 and there are no zoning laws or building permits needed.

On the outside there is a mature apple orchard with about 20 trees, and a large garden. Also there are 2 outbuildings, one is a workshop and the other is 1/2 chicken coop and 1/2 garden shed.

The price has been reduced to $74,900. If you have any questions or would like to see some pictures, Please feel free to e-mail me. Don

Hello Angie M2,

I am a real estate broker in Ohio, I like to get paid but sometimes I do not either...

What we did when we wanted to sell:

First, take the pictures and create a simple website. There are free hosting places and many use templates so you just have to upload the pitures and add your words then there will be a place for your e-mail etc. Anyway, you won't have to be a programmer to make it look nice. Make sure you put good pics and a good, honest description (it will save time later when talking to folks) of the place and even the area atractions, hunting, schools or whatever.

Second,do a search of real estate listings,or better, for sale by owner. Hit them one after another and check the part about submitting an ad. Many are free, fill the info and add the web link so you won't have to take so much time putting down the descriptions. The ones that cost, skip them. I think I found at least ten that were free.

It will take a day to get the sight ready and fill the forms for the variuos sights but it works.I got the first lead the day I got it up and running.

Good Luck!
