Brass Souvienr Key

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

I have a brass key (appx. 8 1/2 inches long and appx. 1 lb) that appears to have once been mounted on some plaque or trophy board. On the front side of it's four-leaf head is the engraving of a large streamship with words arching around it, "In Memory of a Pleasant Voyage". At the bottom of the key area on this side is the date, "PAT. Aug 25, 1925". On the back side of the four-leaf head is the engraving of the Golden Gate (without the bridge) and a tall mast sailing ship coming through the harbor opening. Arching around this picture are the words, "Key to the Golden Gate", and the location, San Francisco, California. I going to try and scan a picture of it into my computer but I was hoping someone might be able to help me identify this object. (Or point me in the direction to continue my search) Thank you E. A.
