OUTSTANDING sandwich

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I fixed a sandwich tonight that is very simple, and simply delicious.

Whole wheat bread. Spicey mustard on one side, mayo with lime on the other. HOT onion slices. Grilled pork loin slices. Avocado slices.

Try not to drool down your chin. OH SO GOOOOOODDD!

Hellman's makes a mayo that is marketed in Hispanic communities. It is made with lime juice instead of vinegar. Quite flavorful. Snooty tooty restaurants put avocado slices on expensive sandwiches. It was a good sandwich. NOT gross.

Rose, your sandwich sounds delicious. When I lived in Texas, they were a staple in our house. Up here in Vermont, an avocado goes for a 1.99 each. After reading your post, I think I'll splurge! And while I'm at it, sure miss BBQ briskit...yummy!

Laughing at the idea of being preggers. NO NO NO!!! My younger son is 25 and about to graduate from college and go into Navy flight school. I definately do NOT want to start the diaper drill again.

still sounds gross,, wonder if a pig would even eat it?

Sounds tasty Rose. Very common around here to have avacado or guacamole on a sandwich. What do you mean by "HOT onion"? Hot as in cooked or hot as in taste?

Terran, WOW that's expensive for avocados. A while back a guy from Texas opened a bbq place near me. I have to ration myself from going there all the time. He makes an excellent hickory smoked sliced bbq beef brisket with cornbread and collard greens on the side.

Umm Hmm, that does sound good. Will have to count my fingers after having one of those, pork and avocado go well together.

Bought three small Hass avocadoes for .99 two days ago; I have pork in the freezer, so me got fixin's!

you guys are just weird,, give me a pastie any day, hot and dripping

those are good too. I've never seen them outside of Michigan. Kinda funny how such good food stays regional. Since being out here in southern cali it's hard to find a good cheesesteak or hoagie and never see dutch cooking but I've acquired a taste for lots of mexican and asian food, most of which I can't even pronouce but it sure is good.

When I lived back east people thought I was crazy for putting chili and coleslaw on hotdogs but you wouldn't have it any other way in southern Virginia. Hot boiled peanuts, pinto beans and Brunswick stew were strange to the eastcoasters too.
