Today, February 27, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Anne Line [nee Higham] (English, convert from Calvinism, married woman, harboured "illegal" priests, martyred [hanged] by Elizabethans in 1601 [canonized 1970])
St. Auguste Chapdelaine (French, parish priest, missionary in Asia, tortured and martyred by beheading in China in 1856 [canonized 2000])
Sts. Besas, Cronion Eunus, and Julian (Egyptian ... soldier, servant, and prisoner ... martyred in 250)
Blessed Emmanuel of Cremona (Italian, bishop, died in Netherlands in 1198)
St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows [baptized Francesco Possenti] (Italian, Passionist priest at age 23, died at age 24 in 1862 [canonized 1920])
St. Honorina (French, early martyr)
St. John of Gorze (French, Benedictine monk, c. 975)
St. Leander of Seville (Spanish, brother of three saints, monk, bishop, c. 600)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
