Please pray for Muslims (March)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Welcome to the month of March. I pray it's been victorious for you, your church, and your ministry. To God be the glory! I believe our prayers for Muslims make a difference. Time after time I've read of individuals and groups in closed countries converted to Christ because an angel, or even Jesus Himself appeared. I heard just this week that the way most Muslims are converted is through a demonstration of the supernatural. That's fine. Let's pray the supernatural into their lives.

We also need to remember those Christians under persecution by Muslims, and those missionaries ministering to Muslims. We need to stand with our breatheren.

Please pray for the 8 week Institute of Islamic Studies which begins next week at Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in Baguio, Philippines. Pray for safety in travel for all the participants, and that they will be greatly impacted through the interaction with others involved in ministry to Muslims.

Please pray for more workers at every level of outreach. Because of the added awareness created by the events of September 11, every ministry involved with Muslim outreach is hard pressed for adequate workers to meet growing demands. Pray that God will provide in each situation.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit will draw Muslim seekers to Christian radio and television programs. The potential is great for radio stations like ELWA in Liberia that broadcasts in 9 languages to listeners in the north who live under uncertain conditions. Pray there will be adequate follow-up for the inquirers.

How do you reconcile praying for Muslims here and abroad what appears to be a lack of concern for the unsaved, having no God, Allah or Jesus on our doorsteps? I find myself using so much energy in local ministry bring Christ to those who know no god, that I have nothing left for those who at least worship a god.

Blessings, Passtor Paris

I'm not sure I understand the question Brother Paris, but I'll take a shot. The answer is simply the Great Commission. We attempt to evangelize all both in Jerusalem (next door) and in the uttermost parts of the earth. It's not an either/or decision, but how do we do both? We must remember that their "gods" are in reality satanic perversions, and we don't want to leave people in those false religions if we can help it.

Also, much of the world's suffering results from the demands of false religion. For example, the women of Afghanistan have suffered terribly because of a certain group's false religion. Wouldn't it be great to bring the liberation of true Christianity to their society?

I'm also personally motivated by Sept 11. Satan has a number of workers in Islam, and at the moment we're bent on killing them. As necessary as that may or may not be, I'd much rather rob satan of his workers through converting them to Christianity.

Please pray that Christians would develop a burden to see Muslims converted to Christianity. Pray that they would see Muslims as people in desperate need of a knowlege of the Truth. Pray that this would lead to action.

Please pray that the events of Sept 11 will cause many Muslims to question their faith. May that date become etched in the minds of millions of Muslims as the day they took their first steps away from Islam. What satan intended for evil, let God use for good. Holy Spirit, please guide the seeker.

Please pray that the church will focus more missionary resources toward Muslims. The 10/40 window, that area between 10 degrees north latitude and 40 degrees south, is where most Muslims live. They encompass 20 percent of the world's population, but only 4 percent of evangelical missionaries and moneys are devoted to Muslims in this region.

Please pray for existing churches made up of former Muslims. These churches exist in nearly every Islamic country in the world, and are not there by accident. They are the result of the investment made by dedicated nationals, missionaries, and supporting congregations over the past 50 years or more.

What a powerful tool is the world wide web! One never knows who will read a post. Praise God for this marvelous tool, so often used for evil, which can just as easily be used for good.

I've received responses from literally around the world to things I've posted, as I'm sure many of the posters on this board have. Most are encouraging, and a few are not. But what is clear is that messages and prayer requests posted on the web are being read worldwide. Who knows the impact a web posting may have in a distant place?

Thank you God for this wonderful media. May it be used to spread your Gospel to places missionaries cannot go, and where our literature is banned. May it spread the light of Jesus into those places where a TV satellite dish or a shortwave radio is illegal. Holy Spirit, please lead many to Christ via the web, and raise up prayer warriors from around the world who will focus on praying for the salvation of Muslims, the benefit of ministries to Muslims, and the protection of Christians in Muslim areas. Please annoint our postings with Holy Spirit power to speak the Truth to hearts in all the world's dark corners that Jesus is Lord! Amen.
