Has anyone tried container growing bunch onions?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A Country Singletree : One Thread

I was thinking of container (2'x3'x 8") some bunch onions this season. Do you think this size container will raise them well enough to keep me in onions? So far I have only done one bunch at a time in a 5 gallon bucket of wormcast.

depends on how many onions you use in a year. I knwo for me,, it wouldnt be enough,, one reason,, bunch onions are pretty small,, and eitgh inches may not be deep enough,

I agree with Stan, I'm not sure 8 inches is deep enough. How deep is the bucket you are using now? It also seems to me you will need to plant them in weekly incriments. My reasoning is this; I don't think they keep really well and I am sure they are far better fresh than not.

IMHO,
