uses for 1,000 gallon fiberglass fish tank

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I got a 2 1/2 ton truck from a fish hatchery. I have a use for the truck but not the tank that was on it. It is 6' X 14'X 2 1/2' and has 3 compartments with a 24" X 24" hatch access to each of the compartments. I have tried to sell it (200) in the local paper with no luck, so it is mine. I can think of no use for it. I don't need a septic tank or a water tank (plenty of water in west Michigan). Any ideas?

Wow, wish I had it.........I would build my greenhouse around it and use it for kind of a permaculture thing people are writing about. Like feed catfish in it and then use the water to water the plants etc. 1000 gallons is a lot of bulk when you want heat to last through the night. Just some thoughts.

How about raising fresh water shrimp in it. You can buy the juveniles for about $65. per thousand, grow them out for 3 to 5 months and sell them. Just a thought!

This link on Aquaculture, http://aggie- horticulture.tamu.edu/alternatives/alternativelinks.html has at least 25 University Extension Articles on aquaculture, which I agree with other posters, that would be my first use for it.
