Stopping down

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Macro Photography : One Thread

I have recently purchased a Nikon PB-4 bellows, Nikon 105mm f/4 bellows Nikkor lens, BR-4, AR-4 and SB-21. OK! I am ready. Now can anyone explain stopping down? Does this mean I can not rely on my F3 meter?

Please advise.

Stopping Down is--using the larger number f stops. Larger number f stops need longer exposure because the opening is actually smaller. This creates a greater depth of field--esential to macro photography.
