Plans for milking stand

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I'm going to get a friend to make me a metal milking stand for my goats. I need plans to give him. I think Bernice put a link somewhere to some plans but I can't seem to friend it. Thanks in advance.

sorry to butt in sherry but I'll be making a wooden one sometime this Spring and would like to ride the coat-tails of your message and ask for wooden construction plans if anyone has a favorite design. thanx.

one idea i had when i made ours.i went to the dump, seems a very poular place to get rid of old waterbeds.i took the pedestal with the drawers, used that as the platform(2 high).added some 2 x 4s to the sides and front for a restraint. the drawers come in handy for storage.only cost was hardware as i already had the 2xs. could only do one goat though(but thats all we had).

Hi sherry,

If you are able to get a hold of the March 2002 issue of the United Caprine News, there are plans to build a fold-up against the wall, wooden stand. These plans also include a list of parts. I'm sure there's several books, such as Belanger's book that would have plans too.

My husband made ours from an old cow stanchion and the wooden "sled" from the outhouse. It's a little hard on my butt, sitting on a folded towel helps.
