Wadsworth finally signs a footballer!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

David Beharall has signed for Oldham Athletic for "an undisclosed fee".

He made made four 1st team appearances, plus two as a substitute, after making his debut against Everton in April 1999 under Ruud Gullit. His last senior appearance in a black and white shirt was against Spurs at SJP in November 1999.

Good luck to the lad - he'll need it!

I think Mick may have actually snapped up a decent player here. From what I've seen of Beharall in the past (reserve matches) he's looked like a solid, hard working defender. Apparently he's a real fan favourite at Oldham from his loan appearances so he should settle in.

It's a shame to see another Geordie depart after so much promise at youth and reserve levels.

Another example of us producing young players who only make it to first division level. Could we ever produce a Dyer or Joe Cole?

Only through cloning their cells, I fear.

Beherall didn't really make a chance for himself with us. The impression I have is he didn't take the opportunities in the 1st team. If you're good enough, you're good enough. Hope he has a great career with Oldham...and gives Wadsworth a kick in the shins from us.

Any chance he could kidnap LuaX2 and shove him up Mick's backside?
