What's for supper?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

We have started something new here for supper. Whichever kid has to do the dishes that night, gets to decide what we have for supper! (within reason of course) So far they have planned pretty healthy meals. I still get to decide on weekends. We have to have the ingredients on hand. It was kind of funny because Brady was listing his for next Tuesday, and he wanted turkey and mashed potatoes, and Megan gently reminds him that "you need to pick a vegetable"!! So it is Megan's turn tonight and she has chosen: Homemade Pizza, salad, and chocolate milkshakes. I will make the milkshakes with low-fat milk, yogurt and some of my homemade chocolate syrup. I am going to mix the pizza crust early this morning, then when I get home later it will be ready. I like to mix some Italian herbs in with the crust, makes it taste great.

Melissa, I also add herbs to the crust, but as a great addition, I also add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese. Perfectoo. Kristean

Don't forget the sprinkle of garlic powder in the pizza crust. I can't eat tke out pizza anymore!!Tonight we are having a 4 family potluck at my friends house-I am making the fixings for spaghetti pizza. Since I have to tote it I'll take the box mix of pizza. Also taco salad and homemade cakes and cookies. Karen

I let my kids decide on dinner, too. The little kid asked for beans and cornbread and they were ALL excited about it
