W reacts to news of record Ldotter 1.5 million daily hits.

"Authors" and Their Ghosts: In her first public speech, 'Historian' Doris Kearns Goodwin does her best to back and fill over some pretty serious plagarism charges.

However, one Peter Campos, a columnist for the Rocky Mountain News seems to have stumbled upon a theory expressed here earlier. Maybe, just maybe, these famous 'historians' are simply fronts and wrote none of it themselves. (We happen to have a list and it's growing.)

The Blind Item Leading the Not-so-Blind: Cindy Adams at the New York Post titillates us with a blind item that could only mean that the big Billy Jeff has hooked up again. He can't be impeached but he sure could get a fry pan across the bridge of his nose.

Please, No Not The Nose: Just when we think pop-culture can't get lamer we have Tonya and Paula hitting each other in public for pay. The New York Times waxes wistful today over next Wednesday night's boxing match between the two women saying they have passed to another zone and are beyond public outrage . Okay, how about a little outrage for the people who dreamt this up? Nah. We will watch. How could we not?

TV Notes: Here's our own blind item. One of the so called "military experts" holding forth on a major cable station is an utter phoney. He hasn't earned the rank, medals and honors from the military he claims. More to come on this one. Now more dish: Clinton's Hollywood Harry (Thomasson) is in New York trying to get players in the Lewinsky scandal to talk to Joe Conason so he can make what will be the phoniest documentary ever from the Conason/Lyons book to which he has purchased the film rights. No one from the "other side" is biting. This from the man Conason said "would have no control."

Don't Miss the Pegster: Take time to read Peggy Noonan's online thoughts today. She is food for the soul, manna for the heart and an all 'round neat lady. She's also got really great hair - sneer if you like but that's important stuff. Some here will know what we mean.
