Today, March 9, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Frances of Rome [Francesca Bussa] (Roman, aristocrat, married forty years [from age 12], mother of three, widow, foundress of oblates known as Collatines, visionary, d. 1440)
St. Antony of Froidemont(French, Benedictine hermit, 10th century)
St. Bosa of York (English, Benedictine monk, bishop, d. 686)
St. Catherine of Bologna [Caterina de' Vigri] (Italian, Franciscan tertiary, Poor Clare abbess, artist, prophetess, mystic, visionary, d. 1463 [incorruptible])
Sts. Cyrion and Candidus (Armenian, martyred in 320)
St. Dominic Savio (Italian, peasant boy, student of St. John Bosco, died in 1857 at age 15 [canonized 1954, the youngest canonized non-martyr])
St. Gregory of Nyssa (Cappadocian [Turkish], brother of St. Basil the Great, hermit, bishop, mystic, battled Arianism, Father of the Church, c. 400)
St. Pacian of Barcelona (Spanish, bishop, c. 390)
St. Vitalis (Italian, hermit, founder of monasteries, d. 990)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
