Bib overalls, care

Does anyone know where to buy the fasteners that keep one's bib's up?

An older fellow that I sometimes help care for keeps having the fasteners on his bibs come up missing. I think that they are not made like they once were. They are now made in such a way that they seperate and are lost. I found an old pair of bibs and took the fasteners off to repair some that he needed. He could use a couple more pairs of fasteners if anyone knows where to buy them

Dritz overall buckles are available from GVS, Hwy 5 and 62, PO Box 310, Versailles, MO 65084. They are item 160007, $1.95 each pack of 2 sets or $1.78 for 6 packages of 2 sets. They come in either 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch widths. They have a toll free number 1-800-398-2494.

Seems like I have seen them in the sewing dept of wal-mart.

I purchased a pair of new fasteners at Joanne's fabric store for $2.95, then went across the street to the salvation army and bought a pair of overalls for 99cents and took the fasteners off. Then went back to Joanne's to return the first set.

Here's a good hint to keep overall buckles from breaking apart and clanging in the dryer. I managed a kids clothing store and we always told mothers to hook the straps on the side entry buttons, then turn the overalls wrong side out. This keeps them from clanging which seems to aggravate the breaking problem. Also, the company that made the overalls always would send us a replacement pair of buckles (free). You might go to the store where you bought them and see if they will do this for you.

Thanks Ivy, I needed to know that. That clanging in the dryer drives me up the wall!

Ed, I also buy them at WalMart and look for them at thrift stores.
