My husband's grandmothers recipe for peach cobbler-- melt one stick butter in 8 in baking pan, let cool slightly, mix 1 cup sugar 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk, 1 tsp baking powder. Pour this over butter in pan and pour 1 quart fruit with liquid over this. Bake at 375 for about 45 minutes. Punch dough down with a fork every 10 to 15 minutes as it bakes. To make a 9 x 13 pan use 1 1/2 of everything except butter and powder. I use my home canned peaches. It is very sweet and gooey and really yummy with vanilla ice cream.

Here is another old recipe [from my grandmother this time] Raisins would be the fruit. Bread pudding---grease a loaf pan and fill it about 3/4 full of day old bread cubed or torn into small pieces. Mix 3 cups scalded milk, 2 slighly beaten eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/2 cup raisins. pour this over the bread and mix well. Place into 350 oven. Also put another pan full of hot water in the oven next to the pudding. Bake until firm-about 1 1/4 hours. Serve warm with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or whatever.

APPLE CRISP

4 cups sliced apples............place in greased shallow dish. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon lemon juice.

Mix together:

1/3 cup flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup quick cooking oats

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/3 cup melted butter

Sprinkle mixture over apples and bake at 375 degrees until apples are done (approx 45 minutes) It says to serve with cream but what we really like is to warm it up and then put vanilla ice cream on it.

Fruit Salad, 1boxw/out juice-strawberrys, 2 large fresh bananas, 2small cans mandrin oranges w/out juice,3-4 thinly sliced apples and 1 can of frozen orange juice(mix with 1 can of water). Let set for a couple of hours. You can add any fruit you like fresh or frozen, I use mostly frozen to save money.
