What is the best way to sell old cream seperators?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

There has been a recent death in the family of a person who collected old cream seperators. We have numerous old cream seperators. I know this person was a member of the cream seperators collectors association and has some cream seperators with the name De Laval and Domo. We haven't sorted through all of them yet so I'm not sure of the names of the other brands. If anyone has any good suggestions we'd appreciate the help.

Well, they aren't worth much nowdays...but I would be willing to buy on for next to nothing...just to take them off your hands..LOL! Just kidding!

Seriously, you should do a search on Ebay. I think you will be quite surprised to see what they are going for. Be sure and look under completed auctions, not just what the current ones which will only show you what the item is going for right now. De Laval is a very collectable name! You could also contact the cream seperators collection assoiciation for thier help.

When selling a seperator, the biggest consideration is being sure the seperator has all it's parts - even more important, in most instances, than condition. There are a lot of parts to a seperator!

A good hint here: When checking prices and doing research is to note that "cream seperator" is spelled two ways - the other being "separator" (with an "a" after the p). You will find listings and research done both ways.

There are an awful lot of folks right here in the forum looking for one, but they aren't for collection -- they want to use them! You won't get the high price as collectables would, but if you have any you just want to get rid of quickly, let folks here know and they will be gone in an instant if you have any reasonably priced! I am one who is looking for one, in fact!

Whatever you choose to do, just be sure and be honest about it's condition. It is a big investment for someone and one know one wants to find out something is missing or rusted. Mind you, even those will sell, but just be sure and disclose the real condition.

Best of luck!
