compoting toilet (used) to give away

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

we bought my uncle's farm when they passed away. They never had a flush toilet. We are going to remove their toilet and if anyone would like it and can pick it up ,you can have it. It's about 10years old and the name on the side of it is Sancor LTD. I know they were'nt real happy with the way it worked(frequent clean out) but it was their sole disposal source,so I guess it worked OK. It has an electric fan and a PVC vent pipe and didnt smell. I hate to throw it away if someone could use it. I wish I had read the Countryside posts on composting toilets before they passed, I bet all that info on how to make them work better would have helped them. Anyway, if anyone wants it, You can contact me at jeni@dwave.net. We are located in north central Wisconsin, 7miles north east of Merrill.

Hi Jeanette, Will need one of those for about a year during the building processs of a house. The price is right but the location doesn't work out (bldg. near Salinas, Ca.) You put life into the idea of People Helping People!

I would love to have it for use on our budding organic farm, and guess what, I live near Medford WI. I am only about an hour away. I would be able to come get it soon as you like. Thanks so much for your kindness. Calvin

Jeanette,

Why are you considering removing the toilet? I hope that you are not thinking of converting back to a flush toilet with all its environmental problems and waste creation. If so, please, do me a favour and check out Joseph Jenkin's "Humanure Handbook" before you do so -- his book will give you ideas on how to get that toilet working better and remind you of why it is so important not to be using flush toilets and defecating into clean water. The book is available on-line.

if it doesn't work out with calvin callme! this would be such a luxury, as we use the Humanure sawdust toilet method now. we live in the soldiers grove/viroqua area
