A forum poll...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Just wondering how this was going for you all. I try to delete his most offensive posts and there are people helping me with it also, but I can't be here all the time and it seems as if he has NOTHING else to live for... If you all want I will go to a password for the next few weeks until a better solution is found. So let me know what you think. I will go with the majority of real posters! Not the spammed ones.

I thank you again for your consideration, and if you are new here, this generally is a much nicer place than it seems to be right now. I apologize for the absurdity of the situation.

Melissa,

However you want to do it is fine with me. A password is no trouble and might take some stress off of you. On the other hand, I can ignore the spam if you want to leave things like they are. Besides, if you want authorities to pursue this jerk, the more spam the better! Give them something to work with to go after him.

-- Lenette in OR (kigervixen@webtv.net), March 13, 2002.

You don't need these hassles and extra work. I say go ahead and password it but it might not solve the problem. The only thing is unless make people use their isp email to request a password, they could just make a hotmail or similar account to get it. And even using their isp email can get hard to really identify someone. You could just pass the people already here but then you'd cut off new users.

It would be so much easier if the person just found a new hobby. They must be ignoring the warning they received from their isp yesterday. I also noticed they were recruiting trouble makers from another forum to come here and stir things up.

-- Dave (multiplierx9@hotmail.com), March 13, 2002.

I know what you mean Dave, it would only be a temporary solution at best. There are some plans being made to help so it would only have to be for a few weeks. To tell the truth any new people checking in here right now would probably run for the hills! I know I would!!

Melissa,

I think you are doing a great job. If you need any help catching the "early in the day posts" let me know. I do get up a bit earlier than you lot in the states!! (I'm in England!!)

I'm happy with whatever you choose.

Best wishes

Hey Sis! Do whatever you want. We're all behind you 1000%. Old hoot. Matt.24:44

-- old hoot gibson (hoot@pcinetwork.com), March 13, 2002.

By all means, go with the password if it means we don't have to watch for the jerk! And, for any new people, this used to be a fun place. And it will be again when we're clear of him. Ahhh...I can't wait!

-- Ardie/WI (ardie54965@hotmail.com), March 13, 2002.

I agree with Lynette-and I guess the rest of the forum-what ever you think. I can just ignore the posts if you need "evidence".

-- Kelly (homearts2002@yahoo.com), March 13, 2002.

I support you 100% Melissa. Please do whatever would make it easiest on you. I would be glad to use a password, and I also don't mind just ignoring the spam.

-- Cheryl in KS (cherylmccoy@rocketmail.com), March 13, 2002.

Just back got back from 6 wonderful days in Kentucky with our daughter and her husband. Sorry to see you are having so much trouble, Melissa. Tell me how to go about passwording this thing and I'm willing to go whichever way you want.

-- Nancy (nannyb@huntel.net), March 13, 2002.

Password is fine w/ me - whatever is less work for you, Melissa!

-- heather (h.m.metheny@att.net), March 13, 2002.

Hi Melissa

The Lord brings us greater challenges, as we are able to handle them.

You must be righteous in his eyes!!

May we all show favour to the least of our brothers.

I have some thoughts for you about passwording the site, which I'll e-mail to you.

Peace....Rick

-- Rick in SW West Virginia (Rick_122@hotmail.com), March 13, 2002.

I'll support your decision.

-- Cindy (SE. IN) (atilrthehony@hotmail.com), March 13, 2002.

It would appear to me that password is the only solution right now unless you just want more of the same. I sure hate to see it happen, but it works pretty well after you get use to it. You have everyone's address that are regular users and new people will just have to request it with a real isp so you can send it, the password and know who you are sending to.

-- diane (gardiacaprines@yahoo.com), March 13, 2002.

I agree with everyone else, whatever you think is best, Melissa. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. There are some real stupid people out there.

-- Barb in Ky. (bjconthefarm@yahoo.com), March 13, 2002.

If we have to go to password, so be it. I don't want to lose the forum, do what you have to.

My mother always said if you ignore "it", "it" will go away. She neglected to say how long we would have to suffer with "it"!

-- Christine in OK (metoo@home.net), March 13, 2002.

I don't post here often, but I do read everyday. If going with a password will save you time, work and aggravation, then by all means go with a password. There's no reason to put yourself through this when you've done such an admirable job with this forum.

-- Patti (trigger@montana.net), March 13, 2002.

Melissa,

If it would make it easy for you, thats fine with me, Please E mail me password, I hope its not to complicated, to do the password,

-- Irene texas (tkorsborn@cs.com), March 13, 2002.

Melissa, we are behind you all the way, if you need to password, so be it, I just love visiting this forum everyday. I know how frustrating it has been for you and everybody, it seems there should be some kind of legal recourse here to take care of the problem. Whatever I can do to help, just let me know!!

-- Gina NM (inhock@pvtnetworks.net), March 13, 2002.

Melissa, I am so sorry that you have been the target of such a troll. If you have to go password please let me know. I do not post much as I am just doing a lot of reading and learning. One thing I have learned is that this is a wonderful place. It is a shame that some people have to try to ruin things for others. There are some really nice christian people on this board and I love it.

-- Diana Coley (diana_coley@hotmail.com), March 13, 2002.

Whatever will eventually restore the forum to the neat place it was. Whatever is best for you Melissa. We're all behind you when you decide. Just keep us posted on what's going on, Please?

Melissa, I'm in the "whatever is best for you" club. I love this forum and do want the password if you go that route or I can just ignore it, no problem. Btw, you must have been doing an amazing job deleting him because I have only seen a couple of his posts! Great job! I don't want you to have to spend your life on the computer deleting him though. Thanks for all you do!

YOU ARE LOVED!! Do whatever is easiest and the least stressful for you. We are all behind you and appreciate so much all you do. I can't stand to have to go too long without my Country Families Fix!!

-- Ivy in NW AR (balch84@cox-internet.com), March 13, 2002.

I am with you, however you decide. I just need to know what the password will be. In His grace, Sissy

-- Sissy Barth (iblong2Him@ilovejesus.net), March 14, 2002.

I don't like the idea of the forum being forced to adopt a password just because of this jerk. There are a whole lot more of us than there are of him, and I would be very happy to help delete problem posts for as long as it takes for him to tire of his mischief and move on. But, if the consensus says password I'll go along with it.

-- Elizabeth (ekfla@aol.com), March 14, 2002.

Another vote for "whatever works best for you" Thank you for the work you do to keep this forum a kind one.
