response to sports injuries

Personally i don't believe that any serious harm caused to an individual is worth the success. However, neither athletics nor the mantality that accompanies athletic competition have never appealed to me. I am not going to judge wheather or not injury is just a price to pay for success because i believe both positions of the argument have validity. I can more readily identify with my own experience with injuries and competition. After seriously injuring my foot at a dance competition i never returned to the activity for fear that i would incompasitate my foot in the future. Perhaps my decision was based on my lack of a disire to push it to the next level, but i look at it like this: i wanted to be able to walk for the rest of my life.
