Wonderful stainless cookware

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Had been shopping for a long time for a really good set of stainless steel pots and pans - at an affordable and reasonable price. Then about a year ago, I ordered a set of stainless cookware. I cook a great deal - we very seldom eat out. And we do a lot of canning. So my cookware really gets a work out.

After a year of heavy use, I still love this cookware. Name of it is Leyse and I ordered it online from Cooks Corner. It is heavy 18/10 stainless and is a whiz to clean up, even when something bakes on it hard. A little hot water in the pot or pan, let soak for a few minutes and it cleans right up.

I was truly amazed at the price. It was very very low compared to the stainless cookware I'd been pricing in shops. In fact, the price was so low that I was concerned about the quality of the cookware. After a year, I feel it's one of the best buys I've ever made.

I bought the 10 piece set and then several of the other pots. Total cost, including shipping, was under $250. Link to the cookware is: http://www.cookscorner.com/shop/product_list-6.asp?dept=75&last=75

I appreciate the tips I get from others on this forum so wanted to pass this one along to anyone who might be interested in high quality cookware at very reasonable prices.

Other than being a very satisfied customer, I have absolutely no connection, in any way, with either Leyse cookware or Cooks Corner. I'm not being paid anything by anyone for this endorsement.

I love to cook and greatly enjoy using quality cookware. This stuff is the best I've ever had.

Funny but dh and I have been looking for a decent set of cookware. I have had it with the non-stick because no matter how careful we are the are soon not non-stick. I have bought a couple of frying pans made by Revere Ware that are called Chefs Choice. They are quite heavy and have copper bottoms We have been quite pleased with them. And they clean very easily by letting them soak for a little while. I also spray my pans with pam before cooking and that helps in theclean up. But, I will check out this set you recomend as we need a new set badly. Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure what is in a ten piece set but I love my cast iron pieces and would say you 'should' have a few. I have several including a variety of skillets, a griddle and a dutch oven to start with. I recommend cast iron for its longevity and, properly cured, it is non-stick. Ialso enjoy a few pieces of stoneware. The pizza stone is great for all kinds of bred and easy to clean.

I have never been impressed with the teflon coated "non-stick" cookware either. After a while, the coating starts coming off, even on the high quality ones. Then you're ingesting teflon and leaching aluminum into your food.

I'm not a fan of cast iron either. For a dutch oven or griddle it's nice but for everything else it holds heat too long and too much upkeep. Stainless is all I use and it'll last forever. Kmart sells a brand called Martha Stewart and has it on sale once in a while, very good prices. I have a few pieces. One is a very heavy copper bottom(not plated copper) frying pan that I highly recommend.

Have been thru the non-stick cookware myself. I do have a lot of cast iron and love it for the things it's so good for. But I want stainless for cooking tomatoes and other veggies. Enamelware chips way too easily and then the iron under it rusts.

The Leyse I think is better than the Martha Stewart stuff and more affordable, compared to prices in our Kmart store, which I believe is soon to close its doors.

I looked for a long time before buying and thought others might be doing the same so that's why I posted this.

Have most of my stainless cookware hanging in my kitchen. It really shines and gleams, too. A friend was over here a week ago and when she walked into my kitchen, she exclaimed "Oh! New cookware!" When I told her it was about a year old, she didn't believe me at first. But I finally convinced her. Another reason to buy good stainless - it _looks_ great.

Thanks for the tip Carol. That's a good point you mentioned, stainless always stays looking good. I do have a few cheaper pieces though that the copper plating is wore or cooked off so I'll avoid that kind in the future.

I've been using revere ware copper bottom stainless steel for the past 50 years. Still in excellent condition and when I clean the copper it is still beautiful. A very good investment.
