Great! I am so glad that some of you are starting to get your squares! They are pretty aren't they? Sooooo glad that we did this! It is neat! Don't worry Kristean....good things come to those that wait:~)!!!!! Blessings all!

I got mine today too. I sat and sorted them by colors. Then I matched up squares until I figured out what I was going to do with them. Have to make a trip to the fabric store this weekend to buy a solid color for borders. Thanks again Nan. It was obviously alot of hard work and it is greatly appreciated. - Sheryl

I didn't get mine yesterday-hopefully today......BUT!!!! I DID GET MY SEWING ROOM CLEAN!!!! I got up at two o'clock in the morning (couldn't sleep for some reason) and went downstairs just to go look at everything in order-I'm so happy! If nothing else, the swap gave me the incentive to get that chore done! So if they come today, I can lay them all out on my CLEAN cutting table!

I know y'all have nice tidy sewing places,(right?) but I'm a messy pack-rat and I demolished my sewing space in the Christmas sewing frenzy so this is a big deal for me.

My husband walked in with a familiar envelope yesterday, got mine! Had to open them right away and flip through them. Was surprised to see a square of fabric that my Mom made me a tablecloth and placemats from at least 10 years ago (black fabric with pink and blue floral). I am strongly resisting the urge to lay them all out on the floor and play with them today, but too much to do. Maybe tomorrow when my husband goes to a friends for her shearing day, no one home to stop me then! Thank you all very much, this was fun. Let's keep in touch and share what we've created. I will be stuffing mine with our first ever own batting from our sheep, should be warm. And, my neighbor is doing pretty well after her fire. They've almost got the site cleared for her temporary trailer to stay in while she builds. It's encouraging to see a 73 year old come back from something like that with such determination. I know a lot of younger people who would have taken the insurance check and headed for the city. I'll keep you posted on her progress as the summer goes on. Thanks for all your concern over her.

Rose Marie, that is probably one of the pieces that I put into the swap. I had a favorite dress out of it! It is black with pink and blue flowers and a few paisleys if I recall the material correctly. I sure love that fabric! Boy, the tales these scraps could tell! That is why this swap is so neat! And thanks all for the thank yous. Sure is wonderful to feel appreciated!!!!! It doesn't happen very often with us Moms;~)! We just have to stick together! Right?! Sure am blessed by all of you! Thanks to you all right back!

I wonder.... I spread my squares out this morning and was "playing" when my kids bounced in. They thought the squares were really cool and impressed that they came from all over the country. They wanted a story about each person who sent squares. Rose Marie sent along a sheet with hers telling about herself and what she was going to do with her quilt. And I loved the bit just now between Rose Marie and Nan talking about stories scraps could tell. Is anyone else interested in sharing stories about this quilt square swap or quilt stories in particular? I've been taking a story telling class so right now, my head is filled with putting storys together and quilts together! I couldn't help but notice though a kind of theme running through my squares-lots of flowers and vegtables, gardening well represented! A couple of childrens prints, a couple with bible verses or themes, a fishing square, they really reflect the "country life"!

If anyone is interested, maybe we could start a new post or, on another forum-it looks like this one is moving-maybe the crafts and cooking or Country families? Or just e-mail me? If you want to, you could just e-mail me and I could put them together and send them out? or it could possibly be that I'm kind of delutional right now because I havn't had much sleep this week.

Nan, yes that's it! I couldn't remember what those little swirly things were called - paisleys, thanks. It is a beautiful piece of fabric. You should see the tablecloth and placemats, they look real nice on a spring table. I would love to have you over for lunch in your dress to sit at my table! And Kelly, I included the bio because in a recent weaver's breadcloth exchange a few of the women included one and I thought it was a really neat idea. Yes, let's all keep in touch and tell the stories of what we make with these squares.

Yay!!!! I got mine this weekend!!! I've already been playing with them and trying to figure out what I want to do with them. It will be my first quilt project ever and I'm so excited about it. I'm at college but I'll be home every weekend working on it! :-)
