poetry about the moon

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poetry Unlimited : One Thread

This may be a strange question, but I'll ask it anyway. My best friend had her baby last friday, a little girl called Luna. I want to give her a calligraphed (sorry if I spelled this wrong, english is not my native language) and framed poem about the moon, but I don't seem to be able to find a fitting one, also because most poems about the moon (that I found) seem to be rather glum. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks Babette.

The moon is such a cheerful orb.
It sheds a benevolent light.
You never get a moonburn when
You stay out all the night.

The moon guides foxes to their prey
As it shines its mellowy glow.
The hens sleep soundly in their house
in a most convenient row.

The moon cheers up the coyote, too.
He sings with a croonful note.
His songs are not so pretty as
they're mournful and remote.
