Near miss with a dog

I am not sure that this fits here but need to get it off my chest so to speak so here goes....

Twice a week we have to zip over to a nearby farm to pick up some supplies for our farm (another long story) There is a rather steep hill on a gravel road between here and there. Last week my hubby asked me to make the run and as I approached that hill, a guy in a small truck topped the hill taking his half in the middle and nearly forced me off the road to avoid a head on collision. He never slowed down.

Yesterday, I had to make the run again and guess what? The same guy did it again! Only this time he had a big male bird dog in the back of the truck. When he swerved to miss me ( he was waaaaayy over on my side this time) he snatched it so hard that the poor dog slipped over the side and I had to take evasive action to miss the dog. The worst part is that the dog was chained in the back of the truck!! this guy slowed down and I slammed on the brakes and stopped--- horrified for the dog--- he saw me stopping and KEPT GOING dragging the poor dog down the gravel road. He knew the dog was over the side because it kept banging on th side of the truck. I had the door open and was hollering to the top of my lungs. Finally after about 50 yds, the chain broke and the guy speeded up and left!! I got the dog unwrapped from the chain and was checking him out and he slippped away from me and took off after the truck.... I watched him round the corner and hopefully head for home.... That guy was so worried about me fussing at him for his driving that he nearly killed his dog rather than stop. Some people.

Wonder how my nxt run will go??

BTW, the dog had broken teeth and a blody nose and feet but no bones broken.

How dreadful! I'd get this guys license # and report him both to the police or sheriff and the humane society. Sounds like he is trying to hide for some reason.

Poor Dog. Maybe one day the dog will wise up and find a new owner.

If you take that drive again, be careful! That man sounds awful mean. Drive slower and keep some paper and a pen handy, so if you see him, you can take down his license.

wow that's crazy. Maybe a drunk driver? Hopefully he gets taken off the road before he kills someone.

Tana, things like this really get to me. I wonder how people like the drive of the pickup were raised. I see so many people with dogs in the back of their pickups zipping down the road with no worry in the world for the life they have in the back.

ok. I think I cooled down a bit!

I was so shocked and addle brained at the sight of that poor dog bobbing on the end of the chain that I never even thought to look at a liscence plate. I did ask at two of the farms that I have to pass on the way over there and nobody knew anything or weren't talking about it. I am going to make that run a little later in the day and see if I can't just avoid this dude all together.
