Recipe of the Day - Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits : LUSENET : Cooking & Crafts : One Thread

These are so easy to make!

2 C. Bisquick
2/3 C. milk
1/2 C. shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/2 C. butter or margarine, melted
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. italian seasoning

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Mix bisquick, milk and cheese until a soft dough forms. Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cooking sheet. Bake 8- 10 min until golden brown. Mix butter, garlic powder, and italian seasoing. Brush mixture over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet.

I would love to try these, but do you have a recipe for the Bisquick? I don't buy any and I have read that there is a substitution.

This is the one I use:

Homemade Bisquick

Yield: 15 cups

12 cups flour
1/4 cup baking powder
2 tablespoons salt
1 pound vegetable shortening

Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt in a laerge bowl. Add vegetable shortening and blend together with a pastry blender, two knives, or your fingertips, until mixture is the same texture as coarse cornmeal. Store in covered tupperware type container in a dry cool place.

Melissa, If you're like me, I do not like to use shortening. So, here is a Bisquick substitute recipe I got from the Tightwad Gazette. It only makes l l/2 cups, so adjust as needed.

1 1/4 c. flour 2 t. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 1/4 c. oil

Stir dry ingredients together. Cut in oil.
