I've never grown it from seeds. But I know that it does flower prolifically, and it does spread from seed. I know of a place outside of Vancouver B.C. along some high voltage powerlines, and there is so much comfrey growing there in the middle of nowhere. I assume that the birds defecated the seeds, and that the seeds were striated by the acids in the digestive tract, or the stool, which increases the ease of germination. I don't know for sure. I would assume that your seeds, if they needed treating, have been done by the seed company. Anyway, if comfrey grows from seeds anywhere as easy as it does from root cuttings(and I see know reason why this vigorous weed shouldn't), you should have no problem whatsoever.

Bob, I have been growing comfrey for about 20 years and have tried to grow it from seed with no luck. But the plants do seed themselves and spread. I sell comfrey roots 10/ $9.95. Burdge P.O. Box 10 Jetersville, VA 23083.
