Update on Ramona the chicken

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Today Ramona was able to get out in the yard and walk around a little. Her leg is still swollen looking and her foot is a little twisted, but she is putting some weight on it for the first time. I have come to the conclusion that it must have been stepped on by one of the horses...so I thought I would let you all know that she is doing beter, little by little. The hardest thing is the keep the other chickens from bothering her. When they see her they peck at her, the mean little things, then I have to shoo them away. Wonder why chickens have to peck at the weakest one? Kind of remind you of some mean people I know!!

Pecking order...survival of the fittest. Natural. God's way of weeding out those who are weak.
