I got a new toy ;o)

Thursday I bought a used trailer at an auction and I am just elated with it! I already had a small 4' x 8' trailer with about a 1,000# capacity and one of those two wheel car dolleys you see towing cars behind RV's, etc. Neither really qualified as a "real trailer" though.

Well, this one certainly does. It's a 26' long tandem axle with electric brakes on each and a breakaway box. It has 22' of full diamond tread plate flooring, chrome wheels and new paint. Instead of needing ramps for loading or unloading a truck or tractor, it has a fully self-contained electric hydraulic tilt bed. I pull two pins, move one lever and the entire bed tilts for easy loading or unloading. It also has an electic winch to load anything that isn't running or to drag heavy items on board.

After one vehicle is loaded and secured I can even drive (or winch) the front end of another onto a swivel platform on the tail end of the bed, secure the wheels onto the platform and tilt the bed forward to lift the front of the second vehicle to tow it thus enabling me to transport two at once.

Now I'll certainly admit that I can almost count on my fingers the number of times in the last decade I needed to move two vehicles at the same time, but it's kind of neat just knowing I can if I want to. ;o)

I want to rewire everything and add some additional marker lights down the sides but, even as it sits I'm really happy with it. There's nowhere to go with this story unless it's to say, "It takes so little to make me happy. A used black trailer to pull behind my twelve year old muncipal orange dump truck and I couldn't be more thrilled."

I am so happy for you Gary. It is always nice to get something that you really want. It helps make the bad times easier. Enjoy your new Toy.

The envy factor is starting to kick in here pal. A dump truck, trailer and new John Deere! Wow! Yep, I'm definatly jealous. Happy for you, but jealous. There's nothing like having the tools when you need them.

Gary, if its more than 80 inches wide it needs the 5 rear clearance lights, amber, one at each edge and three in the middle to be DOT legal.
